Christie Modlin

Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma
Christie Modlin currently serves as the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Tribal Chair. She is the youngest member to hold this position in the tribe. Modlin started her career in gaming shortly after graduating Oklahoma State University in 1998, where she majored in business management. She then went to work for her tribe and served in managerial and regulatory capacities as the Executive Director for the Gaming Commission and a former tribal secretary on the business committee. Prior to being elected as the tribal chair, she worked as the Executive Director for the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma’s gaming commission.
Modlin currently serves on the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) Board of Directors as the Southern Plains delegate and the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) as the Alternate Area Vice President for the Southern Plains region. She has also served as at-large delegate for the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association in 2003-04. In 2007, she received an Excellence in Leadership Award, Chairman’s Leadership Award from NIGA, and was honored as a 2007 Great Women of Gaming "Rising Star."
